Making a text file for the Pleco 2 reader is pretty simple on Windows. FIXME (Please add instructions for a MAC and for Linux) The simplest way is to use the built in Notepad application. You can directly enter the text using an IME, or paste the text from another source, such as a PDF. When you save the notepad file, you must change the encoding to Unicode. This is at the bottom of the “Save As” dialog window.

On a Palm Device, to install PRC files, simply hotsynch them. They're not applications, despite the PRC extension. For Pleco 1 THEY MUST BE SYNCHED TO INTERNAL MEMORY. PlecoDict 2 can read these files directly from your external card, so feel free to put them in either internal or external locations.

Pleco 2 Reader can handle many types of source files. For text files, you change the Source (at the top of the open screen) to “Text File”, and you set the Text Encoding to match your encoding selection (UTF-8, Unicode Big Endian (BE), or Unicode Little Endian (LE). Note that Wenlin just says “Unicode (recommended/international)” for Unicode (BE). The image below is from a Palm device, but a Windows Mobile screen will be very similar.
